Spears Consulting Group Announces New PR Director

NEW ORLEANS (August 23, 2011) – Spears Consulting Group, LLC has announced that Malana M. Joseph will serve as the company’s director of public relations, effective last Wednesday, August 17.

Joseph brings nearly 10 years of public relations, media, and journalism experience to the company. Most recently, Joseph served as the communications specialist for Georges Enterprises, LLC, the second largest private employer in the state of Louisiana.   While at Georges Enterprises, Joseph designed and distributed the company’s first email marketing campaigns to customers and employees.  Joseph also ran statewide communications for the state’s first ever Lemonade Day which attracted over 5,000 youth across Louisiana.

Beginning her career in 2005 as a Mayoral Fellow during the administration of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, she was instrumental in helping the administration to get the city up and running following Hurricane Katrina.  Joseph spent several months in the city’s Emergency Operations Center coordinating national and international press following the storm.  During her five-year tenure at City Hall, Malana served as publicist, community affairs coordinator, and director of boards and commissions.

In her new capacity, she will be responsible for all public relations and business development aspects of Spears Consulting Group.

Joseph, a native of Edgard, Louisiana, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dillard University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a minor in Speech Communications. While in college, she also served as a NASCAR public relations intern. Malana is a member of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau’s PR Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the all-female Krewe of Muses.
