Local Entrepreneur Receives Coveted Rising Star Award from Urban League of Greater New Orleans

On the evening of Saturday June 26th the Urban League of Greater New Orleans celebrated the national civil rights organization's 100th year anniversary with their annual gala. The gala was held at the New Orleans Sheraton Hotel at 500 Canal Street.

Nolan V. Rollins the President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater New Orleans implemented the Urban League Young Professionals an affiliate of the organization upon his arrival in 2008. Through this Young Professionals affiliate, the organization recognizes 1 exemplary young professional per year who excels in their respective profession and community service.

This year's recipient was Mr. Cleveland Spears III. Mr. Spears is the President and Founder of Spears Consulting Group a marketing and public relations firm founded in 2008. Mr. Spears also remains active in the community through mentoring opportunities for young men, and his volunteer efforts with the following organizations Big Brothers Big Sisters of Louisiana, The Urban League Young Professionals, Crime Coalition, EngageNOLA and other community based organizations. Mr. Spears is a native of New Orleans where he was educated through the New Orleans Public School System. He then studied Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of New Orleans where he earned his Bachelors degree.

Spears was quoted as saying he was "honored and humbled by the award, but knows it comes with great expectations and great responsibility."
